A CONTINUING EDUCATION WORKSHOP
Mindful Ethics:
Strengthening Ethical Decision-Making from the Inside Out
Because ethical practice isn't just about knowing the code—it's about knowing yourself.
Ethical practice requires more than understanding professional standards. It requires the ability to recognize how our thoughts, emotions, nervous system responses, personal experiences, and interpersonal patterns influence clinical judgment.
This engaging and interactive workshop integrates mindfulness, self-attunement, interpersonal neurobiology, and ethical decision-making to help clinicians strengthen ethical practice from the inside out.
Participants will explore how emotional activation, countertransference, ego defenses, burnout, and ethical blind spots can influence clinical decisions while learning practical strategies that foster greater self-awareness, consultation, and professional integrity.
Participants Will Learn To:
1. Differentiate mindfulness from simple awareness and understand how mindful presence supports ethical decision-making.
2. Recognize emotional activation and other internal experiences that may influence clinical judgment.
3. Distinguish self-disclosure that benefits the client from self-disclosure that primarily serves the therapist.
4. Identify common therapist blind spots, ego defenses, and the effects of burnout that increase ethical vulnerability.
5. Review core ethical principles and apply a practical framework when ethical responsibilities appear to conflict.
6. Increase confidence in using consultation, reflection, and mindful awareness when faced with ethical uncertainty.
